3 min readMotorola recently entered the foldable/flip smartphone category in the Indian market with the launch of the Motorola Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra. This move puts Motorola in direct competition with Samsung and Oppo in the foldable smartphone segment.
The Razr 40 series pays homage to the iconic Razr legacy, which was a sensation during Motorola’s prime two decades ago. These new smartphones feature two displays, including a cover screen upfront and a larger main display inside.
The Motorola Razr 40 boasts a 1.5-inch OLED cover screen with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. The main display measures 6.9 inches and features FHD+ pOLED technology. The 10-bit panel supports a 144Hz refresh rate, has a 22:9 aspect ratio, and offers a peak brightness of 1,400 nits.
The device is equipped with a 4,200mAh battery that supports 30W wired charging and 5W wireless charging. It runs on Android 13 and is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
In terms of cameras, the Motorola Razr 40 sports a 64MP main lens and a 13MP ultrawide sensor, along with a 32MP front camera for selfies.
On the other hand, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra features a 3.6-inch FHD+ pOLED cover screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1,100 nits of peak brightness. The main display remains the same at 6.9 inches with FHD+ pOLED technology. The refresh rate is bumped up to 165Hz, and it also offers a 22:9 aspect ratio and 1,400 nits of peak brightness.
The Razr 40 Ultra comes with a slightly smaller 3,800mAh battery but shares the same charging capabilities as the Razr 40. It is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Like its counterpart, it also runs on Android 13.
The camera setup on the Razr 40 Ultra includes a 12MP main lens, a 13MP ultrawide sensor, and a 32MP front camera for selfies.
With the launch of these new foldable smartphones, Motorola aims to offer consumers a unique and innovative mobile experience while capitalizing on the nostalgia associated with the Razr brand.

The motorola razr40 Ultra will be available at a launch price of Rs 89,999/- while the Motorola razr40 will be available at a launch price of Rs 59,999/-
The smartphones will go on sale from 15th July 2023, 12 PM on Amazon, Motorola.in, Reliance Digital and other leading retail stores. Both smartphones are part of the prime day on amazon specials starting 15th July 2023.
